previously her eyewear campaigns have featured some very cool kids under 5… some super stylish women above 65… and some brooms & mops…. this season however, new zealand based karen walker’s campaign (shot by longtime collaborator derek henderson) stars the maasai beaders, metal casters, craftsmen and artists who produced the unique pouches made from local materials that comes with every pair of glasses from her s/s 2014 eyewear line… all in partnership with the united nations’ ethical fashion initiative, who aims to promote fair and sustainable business rather than a reliance on aid in disadvantaged african and haitian communities under the motto “not charity, just work”… the campaign aims not only to collaborate with craftspeople in making pouches, but to literally make visible the people behind the designs…
